JPMorgan brings JPM Coin to Ethereum mainnet

JPMorgan's blockchain unit Kinexys has issued JPM Coin (JPMD) on Ethereum mainnet. JPMD is a USD deposit token. It represents a deposit at JPMorgan, so it is not a stablecoin. It is open to approved institutional clients. Ledger Insights reported the launch on October 19, 2026.

What changed

  • JPMD has been live on Base, the Coinbase network, since November 2025.
  • It is now on Ethereum mainnet as well. Approved clients can move tokenized JPMorgan deposits across both chains around the clock.
  • A launch on the Canton Network is also planned.

Ledger Insights notes why Ethereum matters here. Tokenized funds such as BlackRock's BUIDL and JPMorgan Asset Management's tokenized money market funds live on Ethereum. A cash leg works best on the same chain as the assets it settles against.

Why it matters for stakers and institutions

A major bank now settles tokenized deposits on Ethereum's base layer. That adds demand for blockspace and puts more weight on the validators that secure the chain. Institutions that hold ETH, or plan to, now have one more reason to run their own stake with a provider they trust.
