Coinbase and Thunes team up on stablecoin payouts

Coinbase and Thunes announced a partnership on stablecoin payments at Money20/20 USA in Las Vegas on October 19, 2026. The deal links Coinbase's stablecoin tools to Thunes' payment network, which covers more than 140 countries and 90 currencies. Payouts can land in local bank accounts and mobile wallets.

How the deal works

  • Coinbase will plug Thunes' Direct Global Network into its platform. That gives Coinbase customers access to local clearing systems and other payment methods.
  • Coinbase will power stablecoin infrastructure for Thunes, a Singapore-based payments company.
  • Target uses include remittances, supplier payments and payouts to gig workers.

Crypto Briefing reports that the companies did not share financial terms or a timeline for full integration. No country list is out yet.

Why it matters for stakers and institutions

Stablecoins are moving from trading into everyday payments. Most of those transfers settle on proof-of-stake chains. More real payment volume means more fees and more reason to secure those networks.
